The acknowledgment by the Prussian state took place however only in the year 1864. In Neisse/Silesia four women found together: Klara Wolff, Maria and Mathilde Merkert, as well as Franziska Werner. They helped poor sick people by oupatient care. Fast many others followed them. They elected Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia as their patronesse. The St. Marienstift was led by the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth from the beginning.
