KTQ - Certifying
KTQ stands for “co-operation for transparency and quality in the health service”.
KTQ certifying is a hospital-specific certification procedure, that is carried from the
Federal Medical Society (Bundesärztekammer), the German Hospital Society (Deutsche Krankenhausgesellschaft), the German Care Society (Deutscher Pflegerat) and the central associations of the legal health insurances.
The development of the procedure was supported financially and idealistically by the Federal Ministry for health and accompanied scientifically of Institut for medical data processing in Tübingen. Procedure contents were developed and tested exclusively by hospital practical men.
With this certification procedure the KTQ® offers an instrument to the hospitals, with which they can represent the quality of their achievements and transparency by certifying and the KTQ-Qualitätsbericht (quality report) which can be published.
The KTQCertifying procedure is based on a self and an extern evaluation according to specific criteria, developed by hospital practical men, on patient orientation, staff orientation, the security in the hospital, the information system, hospital management and the quality management.
Those at present 72 criteria, which extensive question packages are assigned, are summarized in the so-called KTQ-catalog and were divided into following categories and subcategories:
- patient orientation in care
- staff orientation
- security in the hospital
- information system
- hospital management
- quality management
In the context of the self evaluation the hospital first judged itself.
Subsequently, by a visitor team - occupied with hospital experts - an external examination of the hospital was made.
In the context of the external evaluation contents represented in the self evaluation report were purposefully analyzed and examined by the visitors committing individual hospitalization sectors.
